The holidays are here which makes it the perfect time to make Hard Rock Candy, otherwise refereed to as, Glass Candy, or Sheet Rock Candy, or just Hard Candy! This is a very easy recipe, and fairly easy to do! You will need a Candy thermometer to make this recipe just right.
Ingredients
- 1 cup water
- 3-3/4 cups sugar
- 1-1/4 cups light corn syrup
- 1 teaspoon food coloring
- 1 teaspoon Flavoring
- 1/3 cup confectioners’ sugar
Directions
Line a cookie sheet with aluminum foil. Sprinkle with powdered sugar! Now take the water, sugar, and corn syrup, and put in a medium sized saucepan. Cook over medium heat until all of the sugar is dissolved. Now bring the entire mixture to a boil and continue to boil, do NOT stir, until a candy thermometer reads 300° (hard-crack stage), about 25 minutes. Remove the mixture from the heat, stir in the flavor you choose, and the food coloring (optional). Immediately pour onto the cookie sheet. Let it cool, this step should take around 45 mins to on hour. Then have fun cracking it into pieces! It will break pretty easy! Tada!
