I am not a very crafty person, in fact, I don’t think I am very good with scissors and glue. So taking on this project was really outside of the box for me. Â The first thing you need to do is lay out your dixie cups in the shape of the tree you want on your foam board. Â Then trace around it in a tree shape. Â You can be creative if you want to, but I went simplistic in my design.
After your tree is cut out, paint it to look like a tree. While the pain dries, the treat cups can be prepared. Â To do this, take the Dixie cup and add your treats. Â Then take your tissue paper and cut it into squares. Â 3 inch by 3 inch squares should work. Â Take those squares, and place them on the top of the cup, use a rubber paint to hold it in place. Â Decorate the around the cups with the pipe cleaners. Â Once you are all done, use your marker to write the numbers 1 – 24 on all the cups.
Hopefully by now, the paint on your tree is dry. Â Mix up your numbered cups, and arrange them on the tree so you know where they will go. Â I did 4 on the trunk, and then started with a bottom row of 6, then 5, then 4, then 3, then 2. Â Take your elmers glue and liberally coat the bottom of the cups and glue them in place. Â Once you are done with the cups, glue your bow to the top of the tree. Â Now allow your tree to lay flat until your glue is completely try and hardened.
That’s all there is to it! Now you have a beautiful DIY Dog Advent Calendar. Â Your dogs can help you count down the days until Christmas! Â If you liked this DIY please be sure to share it with your friends!
