You guys asked us to make some Gluten Free Dog Treats, and also asked for Vegetarian Dog Treats, well this is what we came up with! They are Gluten Free, Vegetarian, and Vegan! And also, no Peanut Butter this time around! So hopefully a lot of you can make these simple homemade Dog Treats! DIY Dog Treats are fun and easy to make and the best part about these, is you can share them with your dog!
INGREDIENTS
– 2 – 3 Sweet Potatoes
– 2 Tablespoons of Coconut Oil (Optional)
– A sprinkle of Cinnamon (Optional)
DIRECTIONS
Preheat your oven to 250 Degrees (you can also do this in a food dehydrator if you have one, just follow the instructions for cooking time). Slice your sweet potatoes into thin slices. For this, I actually use the thick cut blade in my Salad Shooter. If you slice them with a knife, try to get them less then 1/4 of an inch. The thicker they are, the longer they will take to cook down. Once they are all cut up, place them in a bowl. Warm up your coconut oil so that it becomes liquid, then drizzle it on top of the sweet potatoes. Toss them in a bowl so they become slightly coated. Lay them out on a cookie sheet, not overlapping. I lined mine with aluminum foil to help crisp them up. Now sprinkle some cinnamon over the Sweet Potatoes. Place in the oven for 2.5 – 4 hours (depending on the thickness). When finished they should be slightly crunchy. Basically we are drying them out, so you want them to have very little if any moisture left. Now enjoy them with your dogs!
